How many Real Madrid games has Eden Hazard missed through injury?
Just when it seemed as though Eden Hazard was finally back for Real Madrid, more bad news arrived.
The Belgian international stepped on to the pitch in Los Blancos colours in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Elche for the final 15 minutes of the game in what was his first appearance since January 30.
With the Champions League and a tricky tie against Serie A side Atalanta on Tuesday night, some fans were getting their hopes up that the former Chelsea star could make an appearance and usher them through to the next round.
However, in Monday’s press conference Zinedine Zidane arrived in a somber mood and confirmed that the forward was once again injured. Shortly afterwards a club statement went into slightly more detail.
Indeed, this new injury is unfortunately just the latest in a long list of setbacks for Hazard since he joined the Spanish giants in the summer of 2019 for a reported £104 million.
How many Real Madrid games has Hazard missed in total?
Although it was a nasty ankle injury that kept Hazard out of action for so long during his time at Chelsea, his injuries in Spain have varied in type and by how often they have left him on the sideline.
For example, his first injury was a hamstring strain which ruled him out for three weeks, then a bruised ankle and then he picked up a serious hairline crack in his foot which ruled him out for 17 games.
Since then a number of knocks and muscle injuries have played their part, as well as an unfortunate case of COVID-19.
In that time, Hazard has missed an incredible 50 games for Zinedine Zidane’s side, with Tuesday’s clash with Atalanta proving to be the 51st one he’ll miss since joining in 2019.
