Torino, one of Italy’s most historic clubs, are enduring a difficult season. A team that should – on paper at least – be firmly in mid-table are starring down the barrel of relegation to Serie B following a campaign in which they have struggled to stop conceding goals.

With the likes of Andrea Belotti, Tomas Rincon, Riccardo Rodriguez and Bremer in the team, it’s clear that Torino are underachieving. Bremer has been touted as one of the brightest up-and-coming defenders in Serie A over the last couple of seasons.

And should Torino drop into Serie B next season, it’s expected that the defender will move on.

What position does Bremer play in?

Bremer plays as a central defender, and has done since his arrival in Italy two-and-a-half years ago.

However, he admits he initially struggled to acclimatise to Italian football. “When I arrived here, a year and a half ago, you know how Brazilian you are: You want to arrive playing.

“But I did not understand the tactics of Italian [football] very well, which is totally different from Brazil. It is very tactical, it works a lot of space, it’s faster football,” Bremer told Brazilian publication Esporte Interativo a year ago.

The Brazilian can either play in a two-man partnership, or can also be utilised as a right-sided defender in a defensive three.

“I have already played four [at the back] in Brazil and three with [Walter] Mazzarri [at Torino]. For me it is the same, but when we play three I can be more aggressive,” he told Torino’s official TV channel.

How good is Bremer?

The 23-year-old defender is a pacey, proactive defender who always seeks to win the ball before the attacker.

Bremer has, despite the amount of goals Torino have shipped in this season, formed a good partnership with Lynaco and Armando Izzo in Davide Nicola’s 3-5-2 system.

Bremer is lightening quick, and can cover ground in exceptional time. This has been an added bonus to Il Granata’s defence, as Lynaco and Izzo aren’t the most mobile.

The Brazilian is also adept at getting himself on the scoresheet. He’s scored four league goals this term, including a vital winner in the 1-0 away win against Cagliari in February.

What clubs are interested in Bremer?

Bremer’s performances for Torino has garnered more attention outside of Serie A rather than inside the league, as of late.

Liverpool had been linked with a move for the Brazilian during the last transfer window, only for the club to switch targets and sign Ozan Kabak instead.

However, should Torino not rediscover their form and indeed drop into Serie B next season, it’s thought that Liverpool may return to take another look at Bremer, and sign him at a reduced cost, in comparison to what Liverpool might’ve had to pay in the January window.

What is Bremer’s Instagram?

Bremer’s official Instagram account has 27.1k followers, as of March 2021.

Who is Bremer’s girlfriend?

Bremer is married to Deborah Claudinoo.
