Germany machine Gosens admits Barcelona discussions with father

Euro 2020 star Robin Gosens has admitted that his father has spoken to him about the possibility of joining Barcelona.
Gosens has established himself as one of the best left wing-backs in Europe over the past two seasons.

He scored 22 goals for Atalanta in the 2019/20 and 2020/21 campaigns combined, as well as registering 15 assists.
He then took that form over to the national side after making his Germany debut last year.

Despite a disappointing Euro 2020 tournament by Die Mannschaft, Gosens was one of the few to truly flourish at the finals.
He scored one goal and delivered two assists for Jogi Low’s men prior to their second-round exit at the hands of England at Wembley.
And he produced one of the best individual performances of the entire tournament during the 4-2 group stage win over Portugal as he was involved in every single goal.
Will Gosens join Barcelona?
This form has led to interest in Gosens from a number of top European clubs, most notably Juventus and Barcelona.
He is valued by FootballTransfers at €31.2m, with his contract set to expire next year.
And the left-sided player, who turns 27 on Monday, has admitted that his father has spoken to him about the reported interest from Barca.
"We'll have a look now. Already during the European Championship I told my dad that he should just leave me alone with the topic,” Gosens told Sport1.
"Now I'm back home again, I'll talk to him and see if something is on the program.
"I'm not lying when I say that I don't know anything about it at the moment. My entire focus was on the Euros.

It remains to be seen whether Barcelona can afford to sign Gosens this summer given their well-documented financial problems.
The Blaugrana reportedly need to save around €200 million on player salaries before they can even sign Lionel Messi to a new contract.
Messi’s deal at Camp Nou expired at the end of last month after 21 years at the club.
