Nagelsmann: I want to sign Chiesa
Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann has publicly declared that he wants to sign Juventus star Federico Chiesa.
Chiesa only joined Juve from Fiorentina a year ago, initially on a two-year loan deal that will then become permanent in 2022.
He enjoyed an outstanding first season with the Bianconeri, scoring 15 goals and making 11 assists in 46 games.
This form has caught the eye of new Bayern Munich coach Nagelsmann, who admits that he would love to sign the 23-year-old – even if he admits it is unlikely.
Nagelsmann wants to sign Chiesa
“I would definitely want to sign Chiesa,” Nagelsmann told Bild am Sonntag.
“He is a super player, because he embodies incredible verve and dynamism. I’ve known him for a long time and think he’s outstanding, because he’s so carefree, he likes to dribble and goes for the finish quickly.
“However, he also has a very, very big price-tag.”
Football Transfers understands that Juventus consider Chiesa, who is expected to start in the Euro 2020 final on Sunday, as not for sale at any price.
Chiesa centre of new Juventus project
Juventus endured a miserable 2020/21 season and only narrowly qualified for the Champions League on the final day of the season after Napoli slipped up at home to Verona.
The Bianconeri have brought back Massimiliano Allegri as coach and have identified Chiesa and fellow youngster Matthijs De Ligt as the central pillars of his new Juventus team.
The future of star man Cristiano Ronaldo, however, is still up for debate.
Allegri is open to selling Ronaldo as he believes that the Portuguese star does not contribute enough to the team out of possession.
But the winger’s €60 million-a-season gross wages are a problem for any interested party and so Ronaldo seems likely to see out the final year of his contract at the club.
