Have Juventus already identified their Chiesa replacement?
Juventus could lose their star man for a second consecutive summer next year, with Federico Chiesa reportedly attracting major attention from across Europe.
After losing Cristiano Ronaldo this summer, the Old Lady are said to be desperate to keep hold of Chiesa next year.
Liverpool, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich are all said to be interested in Chiesa, so suitors are certainly there, and if an offer is tabled, Juve may accept it. They did reportedly turn down a €100 million advance from Chelsea this summer, but who knows what the future holds.
If Chiesa does end up leaving, then the Turin club will be scrambling trying to find a replacement for such a talismanic player, who is capable of winning any game on his own.
However, according to TuttoSport, the club are already looking at Sampdoria's Danish hero Mikkel Damsgaard. Now, whether this potential signing is a replacement for Chiesa, or simply a process of adding further depth to the squad is unknown, but it's feasible that the club could be preparing for the worst.
One potential stumbling block is the fact that Inter, Milan and Tottenham are all reportedly sniffing around Damsgaard as well, making a deal to Juve a little more complicated.
Is a move likely to happen?
Juventus have often shopped within Serie A in recent years, picking up the likes of Manuel Locatelli, Paulo Dybala, and Gonzalo Higuain from their rivals. In that case, signing a Sampdoria could be the next thing on their to-do list.
Damsgaard scored two goals and assisted four in 18 league starts last season, while he also scored twice and assisted once at this summer's European Championship.
This season, he has started five games in Serie A, but is yet to score or assist a single goal.
Despite having a contract at Sampdoria that only expires in 2024, Damsgaard could reportedly be on the market for as little as €21m in 2022.
