Fabian Ruiz happy with Barcelona and Real Madrid interest
Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz has revealed his happiness at being linked to both Barcelona and Real Madrid.
The Spanish international has been one of the most admired midfielders in Serie A ever since joining Napoli from Real Betis in 2018.
He has been constantly linked with both Barcelona and Real Madrid over the past couple of years and both teams have been tipped to make a move for him this summer.
That is because Fabian Ruiz’s contract expires next year and there has been little progress over a renewal, meaning Napoli will need to sell this summer to avoid losing him on a free transfer.
And the player himself has welcomed the interest from the duo.
Gavi and Fabián Ruiz are both from the same town, and both played for Betis when they were 8 years old. They will face each other during the Barça - Napoli match on Thursday.

What did Fabian Ruiz say?
“It is always nice to see yourself linked with great clubs, especially the Spanish ones,” he said.
“However, I have another year on my contract, I’m happy at Napoli and concentrated on tomorrow’s match.”
Napoli are in Spain to play Barcelona in the Europa League knockout round play-offs on Thursday.
Fabian Ruiz, 25, appeared before the press to preview the game.
“We know that Barcelona are going out there to win, but so are we. We prepared with hunger and hope to bring home a result, even if we know it’s going to be difficult,” he said.
“They made January signings, it’s a home and away tie and hopefully having the second leg at home can be a slight advantage.
“It’s not right to say Barcelona today are less frightening an opponent than in the past, as they have great players.
“I don’t know if Napoli are among the favourites to win the trophy, but we are a strong team and want to challenge as far as possible.”
