Juventus would be better off investing in Paul Pogba over Angel Di Maria
Angel Di Maria is set to leave Paris Saint-Germain after a successful seven-year spell at the Parc des Princes and could be close to a move to Juventus.
PSG have decided against extending Di Maria’s contract, which would put an end to a hugely successful relationship between the player and club, and that could open the door for the record Italian champions to make a move, with Juventus reportedly lining up a one-year deal.
Juventus should invest elsewhere
However, while Di Maria would ideally make a good signing, he may not be what the Old Lady necessarily need at the minute, with other positions also needing filling.
The Bianconeri have been in the process of building a younger core for their team, and Di Maria wouldn’t fit that profile, with his drop in form over the last season showing that.
While the Argentine has had a good spell in Paris, the past year has seen a notable dip, which is concerning.
Instead, they can strengthen in other areas, such as midfield, where they have long been interested in the idea of brining back Paul Pogba from Manchester United.
Pogba left Turin in 2016 in a world-record transfer and over the years, there have been links for a return, but nothing ever materialised due to the high cost of the operation.

Now that he is available on a free transfer, a move is possible, and Juventus’ good relations with his agent Mino Raiola may help them even further.
Pogba previously played his best football at Juventus, winning four league titles and scoring 34 goals in 178 matches across all competitions for the club.
Adding him to the squad would also mean a significant upgrade in quality, joining a team that already has players like Matthijs de Ligt, Dusan Vlahovic and Federico Chiesa, which means Pogba would be a significant piece in midfield.
The operation would still be quite difficult – high agent fees and a signing-on bonus would be likely – but if Juventus are spending big, it’d be more valuable to spend on a position that needs strengthening.
