Lukaku: I am angry after Chelsea exit
Inter’s on-loan forward Romelu Lukaku has said there is an anger inside of him as he reflected on his time at Stamford Bridge, following his second spell at the club.
The Belgian left Chelsea last month to return to Inter on loan after a complicated time with the Blues where he struggled to hit his best form.
Lukaku joined Chelsea for a club-record £97.5 million fee last year, but was only able to score 15 goals in 44 appearances for the club last season.
He then made a return to Inter on loan for a £6.9 million as well as a big pay-cut and is now fired up to prove his doubters wrong at the San Siro.
Lukaku motivated to do better during Inter return
He said: “The season at Chelsea gave me extra motivation to do even better than before. I think in one year everyone has forgotten about the things I am capable of doing on the pitch.
“That is a kind of anger that I have inside me. That now the team has it too, which didn’t win last year, all together we hope to do better and bring something
home.
“So many things [went wrong]. I think before, when I left [Inter], I wanted to take revenge at Chelsea because when I was young it was my team for 11 years.”
Lukaku admitted that he had greater expectations of his return to Chelsea, but when he had the chance to make the move back to Italy, he didn’t think twice.

The Belgian was eager to return to the Serie A side after March and praises the effort put in by the club to make the deal happen.
“I had the opportunity to go back there and thought I would be a hero, but that wasn’t the case. In March, when I heard there was an opportunity to come back here, slowly I didn’t say anything, but toward the end of the season we did a very good job with the club and I was able to come back here.
“I make reflections only at the end of the season, so after the last game I put myself to think what my situation was.”
Inter begin their league season on 20 August with a home game against Spezia as they hope to win the league once again, following Milan’s success at the end of last season.
