Official: Unwanted Tottenham star Tanguy Ndombele joins Napoli on loan
Napoli have completed the signing of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele on a season-long loan.
Ndombele, 25, has joined the Serie A giants for a loan fee of €1 million, and there is reportedly a €30m option-to-buy included in the contract that can be activated next summer.
The Frenchman was cast aside by Antonio Conte last campaign, and spent the second-half of the season on loan at his former club Lyon in Ligue 1.
Ndombele played 15 times back at Lyon, scoring one goal before returning to Tottenham this summer.
However, he didn't feature in the matchday squad in either of Tottenham's opening two Premier League games of the season or in any of their pre-season friendlies, with the Frenchman not fancied by Conte.
Much like fellow big-money signing Giovanni Lo Celso, Ndombele was been loaned out again for the 2022-23 season, with the former re-joining Villarreal on loan while the Frenchman has now finalised his move to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium after completing his medical.
He has become Napoli's eighth signing of the summer, accompanying Min-jae Kim, Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, Mathias Oliviera, Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, Leo Ostigard, Giovanni Simeone, and Salvatore Sirigu in joining the club this transfer window.
Ndombele at Tottenham
Despite injury problems in his first year at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Ndombele was a regular in the side, which is a theme that continued in his second campaign, when he made 33 Premier League appearances.
However, the 2021-22 season saw him fall out of favour under first Nuno Espirito Santo and then the aforementioned Conte. He played just 18 times in all competitions in the first-half of the season and was then loaned out to Lyon.
