Romelu Lukaku made a return to Inter earlier in the summer and is enjoying his football once again after a relatively joyless season at Chelsea in 2020-21.

Lukaku made a loan move back to the place where he played the best football of his career, and is comfortable in Milan yet again with the hope of helping Inter compete with the best.

He made a club record €113 million move to the Blues in 2021 but only scored eight goals in 26 Premier League appearances for them and had a frosty relationship with former boss Thomas Tuchel.

The Belgian was adamant on a return to the San Siro, and got his wishes on a loan deal, but hopes to make that move permanent in the future.

Inter working on Lukaku stay

Lukaku, 29, made a return to Inter on loan for an €8 million fee, which does not contain a buy option, but there is an expectation that Inter will keep him next season, once again on loan.

The forward hasn’t had the best start to the campaign, missing a month through injury, but expects to be back playing upon the completion of the international break.

Lukaku himself has no plans on going back to Stamford Bridge, having seen his career at Chelsea fail to take off for a second time, which has seemingly dampened spirits.

In his last stint at Inter, Lukaku scored 64 goals in 95 appearances, helping the club to a Serie A title under Antonio Conte in 2021, which was their first title win in 11 years.

In both of those seasons, he scored over 30 goals, proving his quality and putting up numbers that matched with Europe’s best forwards.

Inter were always keen on his return and according to reports in Italy, are already working on a second loan deal for next season.
