Rafael Leao is a player of interest to several clubs across Europe as they look to secure the signature of one of Europe’s brightest young attacking players.

The Portuguese shone for Milan last season, spurring them on to a first Serie A title win in 11 years and has carried that form into the current campaign, as evident by his performances.

Over the summer, Chelsea showed interest in him but were unwilling to spend a big amount on him late in the transfer window and blocked out any transfer approach.

They are expected to reignite their interest in Leao in 2023, but won’t be the only club interested in him as Paris Saint-Germain also plan to enter the race for the player.

PSG have upper hand in Leao chase

PSG want to add attacking talent to their squad as their current options are uncertain, which has become an even bigger problem after Kylian Mbappe revealed he wished to leave the club.

Lionel Messi’s future is uncertain as well as his contract runs out at the end of the season, and he could well be on his way out of the French capital as well, with Barcelona interested.

PSG also feel they have an advantage in this race over Chelsea: sporting advisor Luis Campos works closely with the French champions, and that could work in their favour.

Campos previously worked at Lille, where he came across Leao, and he could use that relationship to get the Portuguese over to the French capital.

Milan are adamant on keeping their man and any sale would require his release clause of £131 million to be met by an interested club.

Chelsea are eager to improve their attacking line and sign younger talent, and Leao fits that category, with the Blues set to be strong contenders for his signature, fighting actively with PSG.
