Tammy Abraham has now played 82 senior club games for both Chelsea and Roma. How does his goal record compare across his time at both clubs?

Abraham joined Roma from Chelsea in a €40 million transfer in the summer of 2021 after growing frustrated at his first-team opportunities under Thomas Tuchel, the German having preferred compatriot Timo Werner at the point of his attack for much of the previous campaign.

The England international wasted little time in impressing in Italy, hitting 17 goals in his maiden Serie A campaign. He has added another six this term, although it was attacking partner Paulo Dybala who got Roma's goal in the 1-1 draw at Lecce on Saturday.

Alongside former Manchester United man Chris Smalling, Abraham has been held up as a shining example of how English players can still thrive in Italy, following the Paul Gascoigne-led Serie A heyday of the 1990s.

But how does Abraham's record at Roma compare to the one he had at Chelsea? Well, as it turns out, it's remarkably similar.

Eerily similar attacking output

Abraham scored 30 goals in his 82 Chelsea games across all competitions. He has 34 over the same number of Roma outings. A physically powerful striker able to make as well as take chances, he had 12 assists for the Blues while he has 10 for the Giallorossi.

His minutes per goal-involvement were slightly better at Stamford Bridge - one goal or assist every 109 minutes instead of one every 144 - but such stats are often massaged in that direction when a player is used from the bench more often.

Abraham is enjoying his football in Italy - "I love it! It's a life experience that you'll never forget and when I had the option to come here, it was a dream come true," he told UEFA last year, and he has impressed fans with his level of Italian.

Abraham may not be in a rush to return home, but Chelsea have an option to buy him back for €77 million at the end of this season. With Kai Havertz and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang struggling and Romelu Lukaku shipped back to Inter Milan on loan, it is one they should consider exercising.

Not re-signing Abraham next summer might prove just as big a mistake as selling him two years ago was.
