Greenwood given Deadline Day exit chance as ex-Chelsea boss considers deal
Manchester United attacker Mason Greenwood has been offered to Lazio on Transfer Deadline Day, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Di Marzio has revealed that Greenwood would join Lazio on a free transfer and that contact has been made between the parties over a transfer. With Claudio Lotito, president of the Serie A club, keen on the player, all that remains is for head coach Maurizio Sarri to give the deal his blessing.
It is reported that the temptation for Lazio to complete a free transfer is "strong" and Greenwood would earn €700,000 (around £600,000) per year.
The Man Utd player has become one of the most divisive figures in football over the course of the last 18 months after he was suspended by the club and investigate for attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Although these charges were dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service in February after a key witness withdrew their involvement, at the end of an internal investigation, Man Utd ruled earlier in August that Greenwood would have to leave the club, despite stating their belief that the player “did not commit the offences in respect of which he was originally charged”.

Man Utd are endeavouring to find a team for the once-capped England international, with it suggested that he could move to Turkey.
Romano, though, revealed that Greenwood has been offered to Champions League outfit Lazio, who will face Feyenoord, Atletico Madrid and Celtic in the competition and are presently coached by former Chelsea manager Sarri.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Romano revealed: “Lazio have been offered the possibility to sign Mason Greenwood from Man United in the final hours of the summer transfer window.
“No decision has been made as of now.”

What next for Mason Greenwood?
Greenwood had previously been linked with a move to Serie A, and it remains to be seen just how willing to sign the 21-year-old Lazio are given the baggage that will inevitably come with his arrival.
After all, this is a deal that appears to have been instigated by either Man Utd or the player’s representatives.
Greenwood remains under contract to Manchester United for the time being, although his situation will be further complicated if the Red Devils cannot find a destination for him on Deadline Day. Some sources have suggested that he could depart by mutual consent in this case.
