Milan star Christian Pulisic heaps praise on 'world's best'
Christian Pulisic believes that his AC Milan team-mate Mike Maignan is the best goalkeeper in the world after the Frenchman provided the assist for Pulisic’s fifth goal of the season against Frosinone.
The United States of America international scored Milan’s second goal in their 3-1 win on Saturday after a long-ball from Maignan.
The France international launched a long kick in behind the Frosinone defence, which was expertly controlled by Pulisic before the former Chelsea man delivered the perfect finish by lifting the ball over Stefano Turati.
The 25-year-old has enjoyed his time at San Siro following his €20 million summer move from Chelsea and has been trusted with the left-wing berth in recent weeks due to Rafael Leao’s absence.
His relationship with Olivier Giroud has immediately kicked back into action after their time together at Stamford Bridge, while the USMNT star is evidently a huge fan of Milan ‘keeper Maignan.
What has Pulisic said?
After the win over Frosinone, Pulisic spoke to the media and admitted: “For me it’s not the best goal that I’ve scored here, but obviously a nice goal and good to help the team to win today.
“We train with this a lot, so I know he’s [Maignan] capable of playing a pass like that. It was amazing, right on my foot, just perfect.”
Pulisic was then asked whether he believes Maignan is the best goalkeeper in the world. He responded by saying: “For me, he is. He made a fantastic save. The assist was great too.”
Maignan is currently the eighth most valuable goalkeeper in world football, as per FootballTransfers’ in-house Player Valuation Model. The Milan star has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €37.6m.
Manchester City’s Ederson is the most valuable goalkeeper on the planet courtesy of his €64m ETV.
