Arsenal & Man Utd target addresses transfer links after making history
Joshua Zirkzee does not take the transfer rumours surrounding him too seriously.
The striker is one of Bologna's standouts this season and has therefore been linked with numerous top European clubs, such as Arsenal and Man Utd. According to various media outlets, a price tag of €45 million to €65m is now hanging around his neck.
However, Zirkzee is not overly impressed by the speculation surrounding his future. "It is extreme," he admitted in conversation with De Telegraaf. "If you play well in Serie A, things can move fast. But yes, it is the media, I take it with a grain of salt." The Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of the 22-year-old Dutchman currently stands at €17 million.
Recently, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who had his European breakthrough at Ajax and ended his career at AC Milan, said that he would like to see Zirkzee play at the latter club. "I received it, it is a nice compliment," responds the attacker, who is contracted to Bologna until 2026.
"Something like that drives me because I want nothing more than for it to continue like this. In any case, it means that I am on the right track. But for me, the most important thing is that I stay fit, that I play and that I perform. Who knows what happens next?"
This season, the Dutch youth international has rewarded the faith shown in him by head coach Thiago Motta: in 28 matches, he has notched 10 goals and six assists for the Serie A surprise packages, who recently climbed to fourth in the standings after recording five successive wins for the first time since 1967.
