Juventus Awards 2023-24: Best & worst player, best & worst transfer, top scorer

With the 2023-24 season now coming to a close, awards season is upon us.

Who have been the best and worst players in their leagues and for their respective clubs? What about the best youngsters, the best and worst transfers, and the top scorers?

Here, we look at Juventus.

Juventus Player of the Season

There were few top-class performers at Juventus this season, but there have been a few impressive performers.

Wojciech Szczesny has been one of Serie A’s best goalkeepers again, Dusan Vlahovic has had an improved 2024 in front of goal, while Andrea Cambiaso has been perhaps Juve’s most consistent performer throughout the campaign.

But Juventus Player of the Season is Bremer. The Brazilian was the best defender in the league in the first half of the campaign as the Bianconeri eked out numerous 1-0 wins to challenge at the top.

Bremer’s form dropped a touch in Juventus’ disastrous second half of the campaign but he returned with a brilliant performance in the 1-0 Coppa Italia final win over Atalanta.

Juventus Flop of the Season

There are numerous Juventus players who could have won this unwanted award, with countless flops.

Filip Kostic, Tim Weah, Alex Sandro, Fabio Miretti, Nicolo Fagioli (for a betting ban) and even Manuel Locatelli are on the shortlist for worst performer.

But Flop of the Season has to go to Paul Pogba, who failed a doping test after the first game of the season and subsequently got himself banned for the entire campaign and four years in total. The worst return in football history.

Juventus top scorer

Dusan Vlahovic was Juventus’ top scorer with 18 goals in all competitions, including the winner in the Coppa Italia final. He also has top scored in Serie A with 16 goals.

Juventus Best Transfer

If we are allowed to include Andrea Cambiaso, who strictly joined Juventus in 2022 only to first spend a season on loan at Bologna before debuting with the Bianconeri this season, then it is Cambiaso.

The Italian has had a hugely promising first real season at the club. Versatile, tactically smart, both-footed, Cambiaso has been consistent from start to finish.

Juventus Worst Transfer

Juventus made three signings for the senior team this season, one in the summer and two in the winter.

From the winter, Tiago Djalo did not play a minute until the final game of the season, while Carlos Alcaraz barely played much more in what has been a strange loan.

Tim Weah is the worst transfer, though. The American has appeared out of his depth all season as a right wing-back, and soon became a backup player.
