Zlatan Ibrahimovic established himself as one of the most legendary figures of the modern game, turning out with the likes of Manchester United, Barcelona, PSG, Inter and AC Milan during a career at the top level that spanned well over a decade.

Ibrahimovic was known for his incredible technique, which typified his unique approach, but also his strength and power, making him a unique threat.

His quick wit off the field also saw him singled out as one of the game’s great characters.

Since retiring from the top level, he has gone into management, becoming an important figure at AC Milan.

Quotes attributed to Ibrahimovic have appeared on social media lately in his typically engaging style.

Asked if he would ever become a coach, he said: “Impossible. During the game I would punch at least two players and after the game eight.”

Quotes appearing on social media is one thing, but the truth can be different entirely. So did Zlatan Ibrahimovic really say this?

Yes, he did! In 2020, he was asked at a press conference if he could ever step into management, and this was indeed his response.

In light of this, it is a little strange that he is now seen as a key figure at AC Milan in keeping harmony in the dressing room.

The Rossoneri have made a catastrophic start to the season, having failed to win any of their opening three Serie A matches and fighting fires on several fronts as new head coach Paulo Fonseca struggles to get his message across.

Indeed, Ibrahimovic’s influence at San Siro is said to be growing at all levels, with Alvaro Morata citing the forward as a reason he joined the club.
