Mario Balotelli has hit out at a Twitch streamer for suggesting that he may no longer be good enough to play in Serie A.

The eccentric former Italy superstar has made no secret of his desire to return to the Italian top flight after recent stints in Switzerland and Turkey. Balotelli is currently a free agent after leaving Adana Demirspor for a second time in the summer.

Now 34 years of age, Balotelli's star has been fading for a long time, though he has suggested that he could still do a job for the Italian national team and he believes that a return to Serie A could facilitate an Azzurri comeback.

In fact, in recent days, links to struggling Genoa have emerged, with even Fabrizio Romano confirming that coach Alberto Gilardino has contacted Balotelli to enquire about his availability.

Balotelli keen to 'smash' Serie A

Not much has thus far materialised on that front, but it seems that a move may be a distinct possibility. In a heated exchange with Twitch streamer Enerix, Balotelli insisted that he will 'smash' Serie A when he signs for a new club.

This came after the streamer suggested that a player like Venezia striker Joel Pohjanpalo would be a more reliable and sensible signing than Balotelli. The former Man City man lost his temper and thundered: "What the f*** are you saying?

"Just because I wasn't in Serie A [recently], what I did doesn't count? F*** off, you and Serie A. It's a promise, I'll smash Serie A when I sign, I'll fu**ing smash Serie A."

It remains to be seen whether 'Super Mario' can save Genoa, who are not only struggling on the pitch but also off it amid the collapse of 777 Partners' dodgy footballing empire, with the American investment firm now bankrupt.
