That is according to Nicolo Schira, who reports that the newly-promoted Serie A side made an official €47m bid for the Milan left back last month.

Milan accepted the offer and gave Theo permission to discuss terms with Como, who had prepared a contract until 2029 worth €7m per year.

However, Theo rejected the offer.

Como boast Italy’s richest owners in Indonesian tobacco giants Djarum Group, with the Hartono brothers worth around $48 billion.

Managed by Cesc Fabregas, Como were promoted to Serie A for the first time in two decades.

They have splashed the cash this season, spending €96.7m on new players.

Theo's future going into January had been precarious.

The Frenchman has had a difficult season with the Rossoneri, struggling on the pitch and also enduring a number of off-field issues.

He did not have the best relationship with former manager Paulo Fonseca, while he has also been booed and insulted by fans.

Amidst all this, Theo has a contract that expires in 2026 and contract renewal talks have been labouring.

Schira reports, though, that Theo does want to renew his contract with Milan and will only accept a transfer away this summer if it is to one of the biggest clubs in Europe like a Man City or Real Madrid.

Theo Hernandez at AC Milan

Theo was signed by AC Milan in the summer of 2019 from Real Madrid for a sum of €20m, with the legendary Paolo Maldini - then a director at Milan - the man who masterminded the deal.

At Milan he has developed into one of the best left backs in Europe, making well over 200 appearances and scoring 33 goals.

He played a key role in Milan winning the Scudetto in 2022 and has become famous for his trademark slaloming runs down the left flank.

He has been named in the Serie A Team of the Season on four occasions.

Theo has also won 36 caps for France, scoring two goals. One of these was in the semi final of the 2022 World Cup against Morocco.
