Cristiano Ronaldo is getting on his neighbours’ nerves back home in Portugal – by building a new luxury home which has been compared to a hospital.

The former Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus star’s mansion has already been under construction for three years and is expected to take at least another 12 months to complete.

And it seems that those living close to the five-time Ballon d’Or winner in Lisbon are less than impressed with what they see.

One rather cynical-sounding local resident told Look (via Goal): “They’ve been building for three years. The house is so big it looks like a hospital.

“My street has been closed for months; my garden is full of dust. All because of Pharaoh Ronaldo’s pyramid.”

Ronaldo is said to be planning to spend more time at the house once he hangs up his boots – which could be at the end of next season, when his current contract with Saudi outfit Al-Nassr comes to an end.

Superstar shows no sign of slowing down just yet

It’s been six months since the 38-year-old made the switch to the Middle East, having left Manchester United by mutual consent last November.

He was unable to help Al-Nassr win the Saudi Pro League title as they had to settle for second place behind Al-Ittihad, but his arrival in the Gulf kingdom has dramatically raised the profile of its top flight – with a flurry of big-name players from Europe’s top five leagues heading there this summer, among them Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante.

Ronaldo is still going strong at international level, too, and will be hoping to captain Portugal at next year’s Euros in Germany.
