Paul Pogba’s return to Juventus from Manchester United has not gone according to plan, and the France international has fuelled suggestions that he could leave Turin after just a single season with an image posted on Instagram.

Pogba departed Man Utd on a free transfer a year ago for Juventus, where his career had initially exploded before he made a €105 million move – a world-record fee at the time – back to Old Trafford.

The 30-year-old, though, had a season plagued with injury back in Serie A, which restricted him to just 161 minutes of competitive football across 10 appearances.

Under contract until 2026 with Juventus, the Turin club might be happy to shed his significant wages as they face up to at least one campaign without Champions League football after a seventh-placed finish in Serie A.

Pogba, meanwhile, has been tentatively linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League, where he could hook up with fellow France stars Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante, who have moved to Al-Ittihad, following the trend of Cristiano Ronaldo, who signed up for Al-Nassr in December 2022.

The midfielder has only added fuel to the fire of these rumour as he has posted an image of himself on Instagram in Saudi Arabia at Mecca.

Although Pogba’s reasons for visiting the country may be based around a religious pilgrimage – he captioned the image ‘Alhamdulillah’, meaning ‘praise be to God’ – the ex-Man Utd star, whose agent is Rafaela Pimenta, would well have known that he was adding fuel to an existing fire.

Pogba’s career at the top level over?

Indeed, the prospect of a major European team signing Pogba at this juncture of his career looks slim given his huge wage demands.

The France star has managed more than 30 appearances in a season only once in the last four and has mustered a over 30 league appearances only once in the last six, suggesting that Pogba will not prove value for money.
