CONFIRMED: Viktor Gyokeres’ perfect transfer move
Viktor Gyokeres stock has never been higher after he bagged a Champions League hat-trick against Manchester City.
The Sporting CP striker has now scored 23 goals in 17 games this season for the Lisbon club, and by netting three times against the Premier League champions, he confirmed his status as one of Europe’s most in-form strikers.
Inevitably, transfer interest has followed. Arsenal and Chelsea are long-term suitors of the 26-year-old, but Ruben Amorim’s move to become Manchester United’s next manager has only fuelled speculation that Gyokeres will soon be off to the Premier League.
His coach has even hinted that a move is probable next summer.
But with clubs now queuing up to sign Gyokeres, what is his best option?

Premier League clubs best for Gyokeres
According to data analytics firm SciSports, Arsenal come out convincingly on top. The analysis is based on numerous factors, such as potential development, playing time, style and formation. With this in mind, the Gunners get a Club Fit score of 85.
The biggest concern for Gyokeres going to the Emirates Stadium would be game time, which gets three stars from a possible five. Kai Havertz, after all, has generally been doing a good job for Mikel Arteta’s side, yet there is a belief that a pure No.9 like Gyokeres could elevate them to another level.
Manchester City come in second, scoring 82 in SciSports’ analysis. Pep Guardiola’s side already have a prolific forward in the form of Erling Haaland, which is the biggest factor against the Premier League champions.
City’s system and formation would suit Gyokeres, but he would struggle to get on the pitch.
Coming in third is Real Madrid. Like City, Los Blancos have a stacked attack yet they lack a pure centre-forward as they are discovering to their cost that Kylian Mbappe does not fit this mould. Like City, they are rated as an 82 for Gyokeres.
Aston Villa and PSG, which is another club linked with Gyokeres round out the top five.
Viktor Gyokeres' best transfer moves (SciSports)
Rank | Club | Club Fit |
1 | Arsenal | 85 |
2 | Man City | 82 |
3 | Real Madrid | 82 |
4 | Aston Villa | 81 |
5 | PSG | 80 |
6 | Liverpool | 78 |
7 | Napoli | 72 |
8 | Barcelona | 72 |
9 | Juventus | 72 |
10 | Newcastle | 71 |
So where do Man Utd and Chelsea come into this analysis?
Unfortunately for both clubs, they do not rank highly. United are 15th with a Club Fit of just 69.
Gyokeres will not be able to reach anything like his potential at Old Trafford while style is another major sticking point. However, this analysis is based on the current management system at the Red Devils and not what Amorim might do with the team, so this isn’t a possibility to discount. With the Portuguese through the door, the situation will look very different.
Chelsea, meanwhile, only just scrape into the top 40 of Gyokeres’ optimal moves, according to SciSports’ calculations. The Blues will neither offer the Swede development opportunities or game time, which would seem to rule out the Stamford Bridge side as a viable option.
With Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta having previously targeted Gyokeres earlier this year, it appears that the Spaniard may just get his dream signing after all.
