Chelsea face Palmer Real Madrid BOMBSHELL
Chelsea face an increasing threat from Real Madrid over a bid for Cole Palmer, according to reports.
Palmer has been one of the standout players for Chelsea over the course of the last 18 months, so much so that Jamie Carragher has been attacked by Liverpool fans that he puts the England international’s performances in the Premier League ahead of those from Mohamed Salah.
In 17 appearances for Enzo Maresca’s side this season, he has scored 11 goals and has generated another six assists – all coming in the Premier League.
Palmer has now scored in three successive league matches for the first time in his career, with his double from the penalty spot against Tottenham leading the Blues to a 4-3 win against their fierce rivals on Sunday.
This stellar performance has captured the attention of Real Madrid, Fichajes reports.
“Real Madrid have him in their sights as a long-term bet,” the publication reports.
“Florentino Perez and the Real Madrid sporting directors value both the midfielder’s footballing qualities and his potential to become a global icon.”
Cole Palmer: A future in blue
Chelsea, the report states, would only accept a big-money bid for Palmer, who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €89.4 million – a figure that has exploded since he moved to Stamford Bridge and is only set to increase in the coming months.
Realistically, Palmer is untouchable for the Blues. He is under contract until 2033 and has become the flagship player of Maresca’s side.
Real Madrid are also well stocked in the areas he operates. In terms of a central midfield role, Jude Bellingham performs in the region he plays, although there could potentially be space for him to feature on the right wing, where he often featured last term.
Palmer, though, seems to be central to the long-term project at Chelsea and any suggestion that he could leave is fanciful.
