Romano’s Alphonso Davies update

Alphonso Davies’ situation at Bayern Munich is unclear, with numerous different messages coming on the future of the Canada international.

While there are reports that his agent has fallen out with Bayern, there are others stating that the Bundesliga side are close to signing him to a new deal.

Romano’s information falls in the middle, with nothing off the table as Real Madrid and Manchester United seek to sign him on a free transfer in 2025.

“There are reports that Alphonso Davies is extending his contract at Bayern. My information is that he’s still not decided anything. The situation remains absolutely open. Also, he’s not signing anything before Christmas. This is not the plan of the player as of now – before Christmas or the end of the year,” Romano told his YouTube channel.

“He’s going to consider all the possibilities. Bayern are still pushing to extend his contract, that’s for sure, they’re in contact with the agent of the player. Real Madrid are still interested and Man Utd are still looking for a left-back. There are several possibilities. Nothing is imminent.”

Cristiano Ronaldo: Is he leaving Al-Nassr?

Cristiano Ronaldo is another potential free agent in 2025, and Romano has suggested that it’s likely the five-time Ballon d’Or winner stays in Saudi Arabia.

“There’s something to clarify on Cristiano Ronaldo, who is out of contract at the end of the season with Al-Nassr. My understanding is that he’s still speaking with Al-Nassr to extend his contract. The conversation is ongoing,” Romano said.

“The reports of Ronaldo joining Al-Hilal – the most successful Saudi Pro League side – are not true.

“The full focus for Cristiano is the Al-Nassr project. Of course there needs to be new players to reinforce the squad – this has to be part of the plan for them in 2025 – and this is the case.

“Links to Fenerbahce are being played down by Jose Mourinho, but that’s the reality. They’ve never made contact with Cristiano Ronaldo.”

Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez transfer stance

Romano has dismissed claims that Enzo Fernandez could leave Chelsea in January but did reveal the Blues are seeking to offload a couple of midfielders.

“We’ve had reports that Atletico Madrid could move for Enzo Fernandez who could leave Chelsea. It’s probably easy to say this now but this is not the case. Chelsea decided in September, even when Enzo was not in the best moment of his career, that he would not leave in January,” he said.

“The plan has been to continue with him. Now he’s playing fantastic, with an incredible number of assists in recent games. You can feel the confidence and the quality of Enzo Fernandez again. The attitude of the player is completely different.

“I’m not aware of any contact between Atletico Madrid and Enzo Fernandez and I don’t think we’ll be here to talk about him during the January transfer window. That’s not the feeling. He’s an important part of this Chelsea prospect.

“The midfielder who will leave Chelsea in the January transfer window is Cesare Casadei, maybe also Carney Chukwuemu, but I don’t see them letting Enzo go.”

Barcelona favourites to land Tah

Barcelona are closing in on their first signing for the 2025/26 season, with Jonathan Tah nearing a deal with the Blaugrana, according to Romano.

“Jonathan Tah has always been very clear with Bayer Leverkusen, despite several discussions to extend his contract. They tried to extend with a better salary, to offer him a way out. But Jonathan Tah will leave the club as a free agent. The plan is to leave at the end of the season,” he said.

“There’s always the interest of Bayern. They wanted him last summer but the deal didn’t happen. But there’s also the other option: Barcelona.

“There’s been links with Inter and Juventus but Italy’s not a likely destination for him at this point.

“Barca are in advanced stages of the negotiation to sign Tah. Very advanced stages. There are still some things to do. So before saying this will be their first signing of 2025/26, we have to wait a bit.”

Everything indicates that a deal will be done, with head coach Hansi Flick and Tah sharing the same agent. This could be vital for a deal.

“Deco met Tah on Thursday, along with his agent Pini Zahavi, who is also the agent of Hansi Flick, which could be really important. This meeting was very positive,” Romano said. “That’s why Barcelona are confident they can make it happen. Now the player’s very interested in the Barca project, and they are clear favourites.”
