Victor Osimhen was one of the stories of the summer transfer window as the Napoli striker completed a surprise loan move to Galatasaray after a string of deals fell through.

Chelsea came closest to signing the striker, yet no deal was done after personal terms could not be agreed with the player. PSG had a deal for Osimhen breakdown, meanwhile, as they could not reach a deal on a transfer fee with Napoli, despite having brokered personal terms with the player, while Arsenal were unmoved after being quoted €130 million to sign the 25-year-old.

The price of the Napoli striker has since been slashed, though, and PSG are making moves to broker a fresh deal in January.

Luis Enrique’s side are struggling offensively and crying out for a capable centre-forward. Now they want Osimhen, who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €57.1m.

“Luis Enrique wants reinforcements. He realises that he was wrong and in a particular case for a player he didn’t want in August and who is now playing in Turkey. But he costs less than in the summer. So it’s Victor Osimhen,” respected journalist Daniel Riolo told RMC.

“He’s at a much lower price than last summer. Napoli were asking for €220m for Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

“Obviously, there could be an opening. It’s not a done deal but there are talks in a fairly serious way.”

PSG’s move to prompt action from the Premier League?

With PSG now apparently pushing to sign Osimhen again, this will force action from those other clubs who followed him in the summer.

Arsenal and Chelsea must decide whether they want to study a potential deal for the player immediately or if they will set their sights on other forward options.

Osimhen’s asking price has dropped to something in the region of €70m, while there will also be a cost to terminate his loan from Galatasaray, which the buying club will pay.

The player himself has indicated that he wants to remain in Turkey for the rest of the season, yet a lucrative offer from PSG or the Premier League might soon prompt a rethink from a striker who is as in demand as ever.
