Sources have informed us that head coach Unai Emery is eager to secure the Moroccan international's signature from Real Betis during the January transfer window. The ambition to reinforce his squad with a left-sided forward is a top priority at Villa Park.

We are informed that the former La Masia wonderkid is identified as the primary target for that role.

During the previous transfer window, personal terms were verbally agreed between Villa and the 21-year-old, but a disparity in valuation with Barcelona led to Ez Abdi's transfer to Betis.

Villa see Abde as one of their main targets next month as they look to build on what’s been a superb start to the season for the Midlands clubs.

However, we understand that potential obstacles may arise for Emery in the form of opposition from the Real Betis owners, stemming from a rift with sporting director Monchi when he was at his previous job in Seville.

In 2022. Monchi faced backlash after celebrating on the pitch following a derby match when he was at Sevilla, which has led to strained relations with Betis.

Who is Ez Abde?

Abde is known for his lightning-quick pace, power, and proficiency with both feet. He can operate from the left but has also played on the right. Despite being deemed 'raw' by Barcelona during his time at the Nou Camp, recruitment at Villa believe that they would be possibly securing a future star in Ezzalzouli.

FootballTransfers’ Estimated Transfer Value algorithm ranks him at €16.5 million. The youngster’s contract is up at Benito Villamarin Stadium in 2028 after he signed for Betis from Barcelona in a €7.5m deal over the summer.
