We are told that Bees boss Thomas Frank is a huge admirer of his compatriot and is keen to bring the former Chelsea man back to the Premier League.

Brentford have made contact with Barcelona regarding a potential loan transfer until the end of the season. However, we understand that Barcelona would prefer a permanent exit or at least a loan with an obligation to make the deal permanent in the summer.

The Blaugrana value the 28-year-old at around €10 million to €12m and, in the event of a loan, would expect Brentford to cover the entirety of his wages.

So far, Brentford are the only club to have expressed a concrete interest, although Barcelona expect more suitors to emerge in the final days of the window. Not long ago, Man Utd were linked with Christensen, but we understand that he is not under serious consideration at present.

Christensen to leave Barcelona?

Following Ronald Araujo's contract extension, and with Eric Garcia and Ansu Fati looking increasingly likely to remain at the club this month, Christensen is someone who could still depart should the right offer arrive before the deadline on February 3.

The Denmark international has yet to make an appearance for Barcelona since the Achilles injury he suffered on the opening day of the season, although he is now back to full fitness.

Christensen's injury famously allowed Barcelona to register Dani Olmo for the first half of the campaign. The club have since managed to return to the much-talked-about 1:1 financial rule, which allows them to freely spend their income, but they are still looking to raise funds.

Christensen was an unused substitute in Barcelona's last two games against Getafe and Benfica. His ability to play in defence and defensive midfield makes him an attractive commodity.
