Paris Saint-Germain have held direct discussions with Manchester United for Jadon Sancho.

These took place during negotiations over Manuel Ugarte's proposed transfer from PSG, The Transfers Podcast understands.

PSG have held to their valuation of €60 million for Ugarte and refused to accept Man Utd's offer of €50m for the Uruguay international.

Sancho has been proposed as he is available for sale by Manchester United and because PSG want a left winger to fill the gap that Kylian Mbappe has left by moving to Real Madrid.

He is not the first choice for the position; that remains Khvicha Kvaratskhelia of Napoli. PSG are not confident of securing the Georgia international due to Napoli's inflated asking price.

While there have been conversations with United over a transfer fee, PSG have some reservations over Sancho's application as a player and whether he would work well in a squad coached by Luis Enrique.

PSG a great opportunity

“He has to do some growing as a player,” Sunday Times football correspondent Jonathan Northcroft told The Transfers Podcast.

“Jadon Sancho is at a crossroads, and we could have probably said that every summer for the two or four summers, but got to do it now.

“He's 24. Although he's had a good pre-season, I don't see him and Ten Hag as a fit going forward.

“For Sancho to fulfil what he could fulfil, it has to be elsewhere, and PSG is a great opportunity for him.

“But if you go to PSG and you're playing for Luis Enrique, it would be up to him to adapt in that extra way that he still hasn't quite done.

“His absolute best football's been played for one club in one particular set of circumstances. And when he's been at Manchester United or England, he hasn't quite been at the same level. PSG would be a great opportunity for him.”
