EXCLUSIVE: Tottenham see Toney bid REJECTED as Brentford star agrees terms

Tottenham had a bid turned down by Brentford for Ivan Toney, who has already verbally agreed personal terms with the side, FootballTransfers can reveal.

Sources reveal that while the England international has accepted a wage offer, Spurs’ £40 million bid was rejected by the West London club. Brentford are asking for a fee of £65m but it is understood that an offer of £55m would secure the deal.

We are told that Spurs have the financial capability to outbid any competitors for the Bees hitman. However, the available funds will need to be carefully managed, as the Lilywhites plan to bring in five new signings to boost their chances of securing Champions League football next season.

Furthermore, representatives are scheduled to meet at the end of this week to discuss the potential signing of Crystal Palace winger Eberechi Eze.

FootballTransfers previously reported that his family was invited to the North London Derby - and while the attacker will not push for a transfer, he expects Palace to honour an agreement to let him leave if Spurs meet the club's asking price of approximately £60m. This, in effect, has become an unofficial release clause.

Spurs target Palace raid

Palace boss Oliver Glasner is keen on retaining Eze’s services ahead of his first full season in charge and the Eagles will not entertain selling the player for less than the asking price.

The North London club aims to completely revamp their forward line before the men’s first team departs for South Korea as part of their pre-season tour of Asia this summer.

Toney is manager Ange Postecoglou's priority target to replace the departed Harry Kane, so Tottenham are expected to continue talks in the coming weeks.

According to sources, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is prepared to support Postecoglou with a £100m budget for strengthening the Spurs front line this summer.
