It is no secret Saudi Arabian clubs are very keen on bringing Mohamed Salah to the Saudi Pro League. However, they might have to wait for their pursuit a little longer.

Liverpool have made it clear this summer that the Egyptian is not for sale. Despite having just one year left on his contract, the Reds are planning with him for next season as they are about to embark on the new post-Jurgen Klopp era.

Salah has already returned to pre-season training and has met up with the club's new boss, Arne Slot, as Liverpool begin their preparations for the season ahead.

It will be a busy summer for Liverpool, as Slot looks to assess his options and plan the club's next move based on his conclusions.

It was also expected to be a summer where Liverpool's resolve would be tested once again by Saudi Arabian clubs desperate to bring Salah to the Saudi Pro League as one of the faces of the ambitious project.

However, that might not be the case anymore. One of the teams who has been heavily linked with a move for Salah are Al-Ittihad and it seems like they have made plans to sign a different left-footed right-winger from the Premier League.

According to Foot Mercato, Al-Ittihad have set their sights on Aston Villa ace Moussa Diaby, who they are keen to sign from Unai Emery's side.

With Al-Ittihad's pursuit of Diaby, it's another indication that Saudi clubs are giving up on the prospect of Salah, at least for now, which will be music to the ears of Liverpool supporters.

Salah is still one of the best players in the Premier League and in the Klopp-era Liverpool will want continuity. That can only be achieved if the club manages to keep hold of its best players, including Salah.

Although, there is a further conversation to be had about what will happen in a year's time when his current contract is set to expire. Whether Liverpool will offer him a new deal remains to be seen.

Currently, there are no indications that Michael Edwards and co. are working on it behind the scenes. But with Liverpool, you just never know.
