'He's got everything' - Former Liverpool star heaps praise on summer signing loved by Trent
Former Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has admitted that Dominik Szoboszlai has caught his eye since the Hungary international moved to Anfield this summer.
Oxlade-Chamberlain, 30, left Jurgen Klopp’s side after his contract expired in June and currently plays for Besiktas in Turkey.
The ex-England star has made 19 appearances for his new club, scoring three times and providing one assist.
While fitness issues plagued his time at Liverpool, Oxlade-Chamberlain mostly played on the right of a midfield three when he was fit enough to be given gametime by Klopp.
That is the role in which Szoboszlai has excelled in since his €70 million summer move from RB Leipzig, and Oxlade-Chamberlain has been impressed by his start to life in England.
Furthermore, the Besiktas man admitted that Trent Alexander-Arnold is a huge fan of Liverpool’s new Hungarian midfielder.
What has been said?
During an in-depth interview with Sky Sports, Oxlade-Chamberlain was asked which Premier League player is his favourite to watch at the moment.
The former Arsenal and Liverpool star replied: “ I mean, obviously, I watch a lot of Liverpool games, the usuals: Mo Salah still scoring those goals. I've really enjoyed watching Dominik Szoboszlai.
“He's sort of taken over from my sort of role and I'm really impressed with how good of a player he is and that he plays the game, how I sort of always want to play the game.
“I think he's got so much ability, physicality and just his character as a player. I think he's just what we needed in there. He's been really, really good.
“Trent [Alexander-Arnold] tells me a lot how good he is as well. Trent says his shots are better than mine. He's got everything.
“I know what the other guys that I've played with are capable of so it was more interesting to see the new lads come in, what they can do. I've enjoyed watching him.”
Szoboszlai has scored twice and provided two assists in 19 appearances for Liverpool so far this season, while he also helped Hungary qualify for Euro 2024 during the November international break.
