The Netherlands international has been linked with a Camp Nou exit ever since his move to the club in 2019 and the Blaugrana are reportedly open to offloading this summer.

Manchester United are known admirers of De Jong and have been close to signing the 27-year-old in each of the past two summer transfer windows. However, a move could now finally happen.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Barcelona are willing to sell De Jong this summer and have set their asking price at €60m.

Man Utd are in the market for a new central midfielder and have experienced difficulty in their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain star Manuel Ugarte. The Uruguayan is currently Man Utd’s preferred target, but PSG aren’t willing to lower his €60m price tag.

As a result, the Red Devils are now looking at alternatives. Burnley’s Sander Berge is one option, as exclusively revealed by The Transfers Podcast, while Joao Gomes and Youssouf Fofana have also been considered.

However, Man Utd could be handed the perfect chance to finally sign De Jong amid his uncertain future at Barcelona and the Blaugrana’s fresh asking price of €60m.

De Jong’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently stands at €47.5m, which has fallen from a peak of €86.1m in July 2021.
