The Nigeria international, who joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan from Napoli this summer, scored a brace during the first-half, but he was replaced by Dries Mertens due to a suspected hamstring issue.

Osimhen provided an assist in each of his first three Galatasaray appearances and he got off the mark for his new club on Saturday evening.

The 25-year-old guided home Abdulkerim Bardakci’s cross in the 20th minute to bag his first Galatasaray goal, before he doubled his tally eight minutes later with an unstoppable left-footed half-volley.

Despite being substituted after 45 minutes, Osimhen has revealed that his injury isn’t a massive concern.

What has Victor Osimhen said?

After the match, Osimhen provided an update on his injury to Galatasaray’s club website.

“I do not have a serious injury. I felt a little discomfort. I thought I should tell my coach. If I reduced the team, it would be bad.

“I did not want my other friends' performance to decrease. I told Mauro [Icardi] and the coach. That is why I left the game.”

Osimhen added: “We are unhappy as a team. We deserved three points. Football is like that sometimes. You can play the way you deserve and not win. I am happy to score two goals. We are all unhappy because of the draw.

“We need to work hard and focus on winning the next match. I was happy with my own performance but we will work harder and try to do better in the upcoming matches.”

The Nigeria international also opened up on his relationship with strike partner Icardi. “We have a good relationship with Mauro,” he said.

“He is a leader. He protects us all. He is also a big brother to me. It is a great feeling for me to play next to him. Everyone must see that. We celebrate our goals together.

“We are unhappy with today's result but we will all do more. We will do better in the upcoming matches. It is a privilege to play with him.”
