Ole Gunnar Solskjaer refused to throw in the towel despite risking the sack after Man Utd’s disastrous defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.

Man Utd were thrashed 5-0 at home by Liverpool in one of the worst defeats in the club’s history.

Mohamed Salah hit a hat-trick, while Naby Keita and Diogo Jota also found the net as Liverpool ran riot against a Man Utd team that also had substitute Paul Pogba sent off.

WHAT IS MAN UTD'S RECORD LOSS?

This result has poured the pressure on Solskjaer, who is now 1/5 favourite to be the next Premier League manager to be sacked.

However, amidst talk that he risks being dismissed before Man Utd’s next game, Solskjaer remained buoyant despite admitting it was a dark day for the club.

What did Solskjaer say?

"I have come too far, we have come too far as a group and we are too close to give up now,” he stated.

"We are at rock-bottom, we cannot feel any worse than this.

"We lost 6-1 to Spurs last season but this is miles worse. We have to get over it as quick as we can and move on.

"Man United should always try at home to stamp our authority in the game. "At 4-0 it was damage limitation. You go in at half-time having to score one every 15 minutes, I know these players are capable of it.

"The coaching staff are very good, brilliant, and I choose the way we approach the game. Today we were not clinical enough going forward and when you give good players spaces they score.

“It is the darkest day I have had leading these players. Not good enough individually or as a team."

Man Utd now find themselves down in seventh position with only 14 points from nine games, already eight points behind league leaders Chelsea.
