Newcastle confirm Eddie Howe as new manager
Newcastle United have confirmed the appointment of Eddie Howe as the club's new manager after he agreed a contract with the club until 2024.
Howe makes the move to St James' Park as the first manager of a new era for the club, after the Geordie club were bought over by a Saudi Arabian consortium and quickly became the richest club in the world.
Although Steve Bruce was still a the helm during the takeover process, he was quickly sacked and the process of appointing a new manager that could quickly move the club up the league table began.
Despite rumours and reports linking Villarreal manager Unai Emery with the job, Newcastle eventually settled on Howe, who has been linked with a number of top jobs but hadn't managed a side since he left Bournemouth in 2020.
Now tasked with keeping the side in the Premier League and ushering in a new era of success for Newcastle, Howe was quick to underline that he had a lot of work to do.

"This is a wonderful opportunity, but there is also a lot of work ahead of us and I am eager to get onto the training ground to start working with the players," said the new Newcastle manager on the club's website.
"I would like to thank the club's owners for this opportunity and thank the club's supporters for the incredible welcome they have already given me. I am very excited to begin our journey together."
