D-Day is here for Pogba to join Real Madrid
Paul Pogba has always been considered an enigma who infuriates most whilst mesmerising others.
What's not up for debate is Pogba's talent.
There is no question that the man who has played 89 times for France and 397 times between Manchester United and Juventus has magic at his feet and can turn games with the flick of his boot.
He also led his France team to World Cup glory in 2018 with some standout performances in the matches that mattered.
But there's always been an underwhelming feeling when it comes to Pogba and his Manchester United career.
He returned to the club in 2016 after success in Italy for a then world-record transfer fee of £89 million.
But his five years since have split opinions ranging from the absurd to the ridiculous.
Real Madrid interest
At 28-years-old, Pogba is now entering the twilight years of his career and faces a big decision on which direction it now goes.
His contract is due to expire in June and he will be a free agent if he doesn't sign on the dotted line for more years at Old Trafford.
That also means he can speak to other clubs in January and one of those clubs could be Real Madrid.
The Frenchman has been continually linked with the Spanish giants throughout his career and it appears it may be now or never if he is ever to play for Los Blancos.
He is seen as a ready replacement for some in the Madrid squad who are getting on in years and they will be watching what he and his agent Mino Raiola do in the coming months.
Concerns are growing with Pogba's fitness, with a thigh injury sustained with France recently the third big injury in two years.
The thigh troubles will likely keep him out for the rest of 2021 and by the time he returns to Premier League action he could already be speaking to other clubs.
PSG, Juventus and Barcelona interested
Real Madrid aren't the only club closely monitoring Pogba's contract situation with reports claiming former club Juventus, PSG and even Xavi's Barcelona interested in his services.
Whatever lies ahead of Pogba, whether he sticks it out at United or moves elsewhere, he will continue to cause debates about how good he really is and what he can offer.
We're in store for an interesting few months in the long-running Paul Pogba story and it's likely there are some twists and turns yet to come.
