Lukaku's agent confirms he will leave Chelsea and return to Serie A
Romelu Lukaku's agent has confirmed that the Belgian striker will return to Serie A at some point in the future.
After signing for Chelsea at a young age Lukaku would move out on loan to West Brom and then Everton before joining the Toffees permanently.
He would star for Everton before earning a £75 million transfer to Manchester United.
While Lukaku was by no means a flop at Old Trafford, he eventually fell out of favour and joined Inter in 2019, saying afterwards he felt he was made a scapegoat by some at the Red Devils for their failings on the pitch.
At Inter he enjoyed the best form of his career, scoring 47 league goals in just 65 starts across his first two campaigns in Italy.
In 2020/21 he was one of Inter's key performers as they won Serie A and ended Juventus'decade-long period of dominance.
He would subsequently earn a massive club-record £97.5m transfer back to Chelsea, but that doesn't mean we won't see him in Italy again.
Lukaku back to Italy?
Lukaku's agent Federico Pastorello told TuttoMercato:
"One day we will see Lukaku back in Serie A, because he loves Italy. But now it's time for Chelsea to enjoy Romelu."
Pastorello also revealed that Lukaku actually came close to joining Juventus from Man Utd in the summer of 2019 in a swap deal that included Mario Mandzukic and Paulo Dybala.
The deal was scuppered due to Dybala ultimately turning down the move to Old Trafford.
"Lukaku was one step away from Juve," he said.
"Romelu had already talked to [Maurizio] Sarri and Cristiano Ronaldo.
"However, later Dybala and Manchester United, both not too convinced, did not reach the agreement."
Lukaku has scored five goals in 11 starts in all competitions since returning to the Blues.
