Arsenal seem intent on spending what it takes to upgrade their team in the January transfer window.

Not only has Mikel Arteta admitted that the club need to sign a midfielder this month, but they’ve also been linked with a number of forwards too.

One such talent is none other than Juventus winger Dejan Kulusevski, who remains a serious transfer target for Arsenal according to William Hill News.

But just how good is Kulusevski and, perhaps more importantly, how much will Arsenal need to spend to sign him?

How good is Dejan Kulusevski?

Kulusevski made his name in Italian football off the back of some remarkable performances for Atalanta’s youth side, when he bagged no less than 17 goals and 26 assists in 55 games.

He then moved on loan to Parma, where he bagged an equally impressive 10 goals and nine assists in 39 games for the Italian club.

However, since making the move to Juventus in 2020, the wide playmaker has struggled to replicate his form for the biggest club in the country.

Across two seasons at the club, Kulusevski has only managed eight goals and 10 assists in 69 appearances. Which certainly doesn’t bode well for any clubs that may be interested in signing him in January.

Of course, there are some caveats that Arsenal may have already considered. For a start, the Sweden international is only 21 years of age and has certainly shown promise elsewhere, before making the move to Turin.

On top of that, Kulusevski is hardly the only forward player to struggle for form at Juventus over the past two or three seasons and would likely thrive in a better system or under a more useful manager. And that’s perhaps why Arsenal are willing to take a bet on him in this coming transfer window.

How much will he cost in January?

Due to the player’s age and a contract at Juventus until 2025, Kulusevski is still valued at an impressive €36 million. Not only is he the 24th most valuable player in Serie A but he’s also the third most valuable Swedish player in the game today.

However, due to Juventus’ financial situation and perhaps an interest in selling the player in January, Arsenal could perhaps look to sign Kulusevski for as little as €27 million. Which wouldn’t be a huge amount of money for a player of his age and profile.
