The five Tottenham players who could leave in January
Tottenham have already had two managers this season, with Antonio Conte replacing Nuno Espirito Santo after the disappointing tenure of the former Wolves boss.
The Italian has been tasked with getting the club back into the Champions League and in order to do so he will need to implement his very specific style of play, usually via a 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 formation.
As his appointment came in the middle of the season, he hasn't yet been able to bring in any signings to match his system.
There will likely be plenty of football transfer news surrounding Spurs in January as Conte will be given a lot of money to improve his squad.
TOTTENHAM'S MOST VALUABLE PLAYERS
Here are five current Tottenham players who could potentially move in January to partly fund the spending spree.
Dele Alli
The writing has been on the wall for Dele Alli at Tottenham for a while now and it seems a departure at some point is inevitable.
His form started to dip in the latter months of Mauricio Pochettino's tenure and it got worse under Jose Mourinho and then Nuno.
Mourinho famously criticised Alli for his commitment in training in Tottenham's 'All or Nothing' Amazon documentary series.
Conte simply will not accept anything less than 100% from his players, so an exit to the likes of Newcastle or Everton is on the cards for Alli.
Harry Kane
It is now widely known that Harry Kane asked to leave Tottenham during the summer after becoming frustrated at the club's lack of progression in recent seasons.
The England international was strongly linked with both Manchester City and Manchester United, with the former reportedly tabling a mammoth bid somewhere in the region of £140 million for his services.
Tottenham rejected those advances, but that doesn't mean City won't try and strengthen their assault on the Premier League and Champions League with a another sizeable offer.
An unlikely departure, but it is one that would give Conte plenty of money to spend.
Steven Bergwijn
Steven Bergwijn hasn't made a lasting impact on the Premier League since his £27m transfer from PSV two January windows ago.
He has the pace and dribbling ability to hurt teams and enjoyed a fabulous debut, being named Man of the Match against Manchester City, but form and fitness issues have left him on the periphery of the starting XI.
In 43 Premier League appearances he has scored just four goals and recorded five assists.
Ajax are reportedly interested in taking Bergwijn back to the Netherlands, but it would likely be an initial loan deal at this point.
Tanguy Ndombele
When Conte was appointed as manager of Tottenham, one player who would have likely been worried was Tanguy Ndombele.
The former Lyon midfielder had already been accused of not working hard enough in training or in games, with his laid back style often garnering criticism.
The intensity of Conte's methods were never going to suit Ndombele unless he drastically changed his approach to his career.
Indeed, the Italian has already said Ndombele needs to improve as a team player, so if a decent bid comes in, Spurs may be tempted to sell.
Juventus have been linked.
Bryan Gil
A lot was expected from young winger Bryan Gil when he completed his £22m transfer from Sevilla, with Erik Lamela heading to La Liga as part of the deal.
He had displayed his mercurial talents in Spain, but he has been unable to find his feet in England so far.
Tottenham will not cut their losses on Gil, but rather attempt to send him on loan until the end of the season to aid his development, with a return to La Liga looking the most likely destination.
He has, after all, not made a single start in the Premier League so far.
