Pogba on transfer speculation: I’m enjoying myself at Manchester United
Paul Pogba has dismissed speculation over his future and insisted he is enjoying himself at Manchester United.
The midfielder has enjoyed something of a renaissance since the turn of the year, emerging from the fringes to play a key part in a burdening title charge.
But, now back in the fold at Old Trafford, Pogba is focused simply on lifting silverware.
“I’m under contract here and I’m enjoying myself,” Pogba told Rio Ferdinand for BT Sport.
“Everybody knows that I have one year left so I’m going to speak with the club and see what’s going on. My goal is to win something that’s all I’m thinking about.”
‘We’re playing more as a team’
United sit second in the Premier League, unbeaten in 13 games, but Pogba is adamant that the job is not finished until he and his teammates bring trophies to Old Trafford.
And the Frenchman believes the key difference between the current team and those that have flattered to deceive in recent history is the togetherness within the dressing room.
“We’re playing more as a team, defending much better, pressing much better and no one is running less or not making effort to come back,” he said.
Pogba’s personal performances have also gone up a level of late, as evidenced by his recent winning goals at Burnley and Fulham.
“I hope I can do even better, I hope we can carry on and do better [as a team] from now until the end of the season,” he added.
“We’ve been playing well but we haven’t won anything yet and that’s what we want to do.
“We’re top of the league, but we’re not champions. Until you’re champions you have to carry on.”
“Obviously I would love to be further forward but with my body and my abilities I can do both so why not?” he continued.
“I always want to have the ball, touch the ball, make the last pass, an assist, a shot, a header… but as well to be there defensively.
“[The position] isn’t up to me but as long as I play that’s all that matters.”
