Chelsea legend Drogba’s son signs for Italian club
The son of Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has signed for Italian fourth division club Folgore Caratese.
Isaac Drogba, a 20-year-old forward, signed for the Serie D Group A club on a free transfer, having left French Ligue 2 club Guingamp last summer.
“Folgore Caratese announces that it has secured the [signing] of the striker Isaac Drogba, son of Didier,” Caratese wrote in an official statement on their website.
Drogba last season featured for Guingamp’s Under-19 and reserve teams before leaving after just one year at the club.
The youngster had previously spent time in Chelsea’s youth academy.
His father Didier is regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of both Chelsea and African football.
He scored 164 goals for Chelsea during two spells at the club, winning four Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups, two Community Shields and the Champions League.
Drogba famously scored the winning penalty in Chelsea’s Champions League final shootout success over Bayern Munich, having earlier scored the equaliser to force the match to extra time.
He is also the Ivory Coast’s all-time top-scorer, having found the net 65 times in 105 appearances.
