WBA seal loan move for Turkey international Yokuslu
West Brom have announced that they have signed Okay Yokuslu from La Liga side Celta Vigo on a loan deal that will run until the end of the season.
Sam Allardyce’s side have made Yokuslu their fourth signing of the window, having previously captured veteran winger Robert Snodgrass from West Ham, reserve goalkeeper Andy Lonergan from Stoke and striker Mbaye Diagne from Galatasaray.
The midfielder has featured on 12 occasions in La Liga this season and is also a current Turkey international. Yokuslu has played 29 times for his country.
Sporting and technical director Luke Dowling said: “It has been a priority since the start of the January window to build on the quality we already have in the building and, in Yokuslu, we have a proven international midfielder who we believe can help us in our battle to remain in the Premier League.
“As was the case with Mbaye Diagne and Robert Snodgrass, it is important the players joining us understand the situation in which we find ourselves, and are prepared to fight to help us achieve our goal. It is testament to Okay that he has also made the decision to commit himself to that challenge.
“Okay is a battling midfielder who wears his heart on his sleeve. We look forward to him joining up with his team-mates later this week as they prepare to face Tottenham on Sunday.”
West Brom face an uphill battle for Premier League survival this season. The Baggies are presently nine points off safety with 17 games of the campaign remaining.
Their position is one of the reasons they have been so eager to gamble in the January window, with WBA boss Allardyce eager to ensure he keeps his record of never having been relegated from the Premier League intact.
