Could Bayern Munich beat Liverpool to the signing of Teun Koopmeiners?
Julian Nagelsmann has been confirmed as the new head coach of Bayern Munich for next season and that probably means the club will look to freshen up their first team for the new league campaign.
That could mean a change in tactics in the coming summer transfer window and according to reports in Spain may now lead to Bayern bumping heads with Liverpool over potential transfer targets.
According to Spanish website Fichajes, Bayern have put together a three-player shortlist to improve Nagelsmann’s squad next season that includes AZ Alkmaar midfielder Teun Koopmeiners.

Reports in England have suggest that the Anfield side have already put together plans to try and convince the 23-year-old midfielder to make the move to the Premier League as a potential replacement for Gini Wijnaldum, should the senior midfielder depart this summer.
However, it now seems as though Bayern may have sounded out the defensive midfielder and believe he may be an ideal addition to Nagelsmann’s team next season.
Could Bayern make a move for Koopmeiners this summer?
Whether or not the transfer story has any legitimacy behind it, there’s no doubt that another defensive midfielder will probably be high on Bayern’s list of priorities this summer.
Although the club can often rely upon the excellent and consistent performances of Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka, the strength in depth behind that midfield pairing is a notable drop off.
New signing Marc Roca hasn’t made the grade and will likely leave the club this summer, alongside fellow defensive midfielder Javi Martinez, whose contract is due to expire. Similarly young prospect Tiago Dantas has also struggled to elbow his way into the side.
Couple that with the constant injuries to Corentin Tolisso and it’s safe to say that Bayern could undoubtedly use another central midfielder or genuine quality. And that may be where Koopmeiners could be of immense use to Nagelsmann next season.
