Liverpool urged to ‘steal’ Jadon Sancho from under the noses of Man Utd
Former Liverpool forward Fabio Borini believes the club should try and sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund, gazumping Manchester United’s pursuit of the winger in the process.
Throughout the summer of 2020 Man Utd continually attempted to sign Sancho from Dortmund, but despite ongoing negotiations, a deal couldn’t be reached between the two clubs.

Dortmund allegedly refused to budge on their €100 million valuation of the England international, which the Red Devils didn’t match.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still targeting the acquisition of a right winger this summer, though, and could ask the Man Utd hierarchy to restart talks with Dortmund about the transfer of Sancho.
Another club looking for a right-sided attacker is Liverpool, though, and Borini reckons the Premier League champions should step up their efforts to sign Sancho, as not only would they get a great player, but it would be “fun” to see the club come out on top in the dealings ahead of Man Utd.
“Looking at Liverpool’s competitors I think more depth in the attacking positions would do the team good,” the Italian told CaughtOffside.
“Jadon Sancho would be a great signing and it would be fun to steal him from Man United.”
Who will Liverpool sign this summer?
Liverpool won the Premier League for the first time in the 2019/20 season but have but up a dismal defence of their title and now face a fight to even reach the top four and qualify for the Champions League.
There will therefore likely be an overhaul of sorts at the club this summer, with a new striker, right winger, central midfielder, and central defender on the agenda.
Like every major club in Europe, Liverpool have been linked with a swoop for Dortmund striker Erling Haaland, though they are likely behind Manchester City, Man Utd, Real Madrid and Barcelona in that particular race.
Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez have missed the majority of the season but even though they will return, Jurgen Klopp still wants a new defender due to the problems they have had with injuries in that position this season.
Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies were brought in during the January window, but a higher profile defender like Sevilla’s Jules Kounde or Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly is desired.
Georginio Wijnaldum will probably leave at the expiration of his contract which means a replacement will be needed. Rodrigo De Paul of Udinese, James Ward-Prowse of Southampton, and Yves Bissouma of Brighton are a few of the names mentioned for that role.
