David Luiz is one of the most colourful defenders in Premier League history, having turned out for both Arsenal and Chelsea in a career that has also seen him play for Benfica and Paris Saint-Germain.

Noted for his distinctive haircut and notorious for making cheap errors, which overshadowed an otherwise fine defensive game, Luiz was released by Arsenal at the end of the 2020/21 season.

Since arriving at the Emirates Stadium from Chelsea in 2019, he had made 73 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring four goals.

He has since been linked with numerous clubs, including Ligue 1 outfit Marseille, yet his career could be ready to take a very different direction.

According to Turkish outlet Fanatic, David Luiz is poised to sign for Adana Demirspor, a highly ambitious team that has been collecting some notable talent over the course of the summer to date.

Having won promotion to the Super Lig last season, Demirspor have been active in the summer transfer window, notably signing former Manchester City and Inter striker Mario Balotelli to their ranks.

They have also captured former Tottenham midfielder Benjamin Stambouli, ex-Nottingham Forest hitman Britt Assambalonga, Morocco international playmaker Younes Belhanda, who was previously with Galatasaray, and Norway right-back Jonas Svensson, previously with AZ.

David Luiz is in negotiations to add his name to his eclectic list of additions.

What is David Luiz doing now?

Over the course of the summer, meanwhile, he has been forced to train alone because of his lack of club. He has been doing this back in Brazil, with his Instagram feed showing regular sessions on the beach as well as some impressive work in the gym.

Away from the field, meanwhile, he has been enjoying spending time with daughter Mallie, who was born in November 2020.

David Luiz, however, is expected back soon, albeit his career at the highest level may finally be over.
