Paul Pogba has been told to start wearing his France shirt under his Manchester United top in order to improve his fortunes at club level.

Pogba shone for France at the 2018 World Cup and again at Euro 2020 but has struggled to translate such form to Man Utd.

Indeed, so frustrating as the midfielder’s level been, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side could elect to offload him this summer with just a year left on his contract.

Paris Saint-Germain are interested, although a move appears to be a far off prospect for now, while Real Madrid and Juventus are ailing financially and are apparently unable to afford a deal.

How Pogba could improve his Man Utd form

With that in mind, former Man Utd player Dimitar Berbatov has given Pogba some advice on improving his fortunes at Old Trafford.

“Paul Pogba looked outstanding for France at Euro 2020, even though his team were knocked out in the second round,” Berbatov told Betfair. “He needs to be the same player for Man Utd. He looks like he has more freedom for France, and possibly more motivation, although he does suffer from the same lapses in concentration.

“If Pogba can improve the defensive side of his game, and not lose the ball, he could be the complete midfielder. We all know his quality is there. The goal he scored against Switzerland was unbelievable.

I remember I was going through a dry spell for Bayer Leverkusen. At the same time, I was still scoring for Bulgaria. So I thought: "F**k it, I'll wear my Bulgaria shirt under my Leverkusen shirt.

“Some players do find it easier to get motivated for their national side. I remember I was going through a dry spell for Bayer Leverkusen. At the same time, I was still scoring for Bulgaria. So I thought: "F**k it, I'll wear my Bulgaria shirt under my Leverkusen shirt.

“It didn't actually help me, but the point is I was willing to try anything to start scoring for my club again.”

Pogba will expect to be in a Man Utd shirt for the opening game of the Premier League season, which takes place at Old Trafford against Everton on 7 August.
