The 2021 edition of the competition was originally meant to take place in June and July of 2021 but due to the climate being unsuitable, it was brought forward to January and February of 2021.

However, the Covid pandemic led to it being postponed and pushed back a year later to the start of 2022.

There are still concerns over Cameroon's infrastructure and whether it is suitable enough to host the event, but the tournament will go ahead as scheduled.

Should a Premier League players feature from the start of the tournament to the end, they will be missing from 9 January to 6 February - and that is not even taking into account preparation or rest periods.

Several high-profile names are set to feature in the tournament, like Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Whether it be fighting for the title, fighting for European qualification or fighting for survival, clubs could be without several star players.
