Five players set to leave Manchester United in January
Manchester United have a very large squad this 2021/22 season and there are several players on the fringes who continue to wait for opportunities that simply aren't coming. With these players keen to find some playing time and with the club looking for opportunities to bring in some transfer fees, there could be a lot of movement at Old Trafford this January.

There are even five players who are closer to leaving the club than they are to staying and we outline who they are here and where they could potentially find a new footballing home.
Dean Henderson
One of the players Manchester United will allow to leave this January is Dean Henderson, given that the 24-year-old has clearly lost the battle for the goalkeeping gloves to David de Gea. With those in charge at the club still fond of Henderson and his potential, they want to keep him on their books. This is why an 18-month loan is being considered, according to The Sun.
Jesse Lingard
Despite performing well off the bench, Jesse Lingard hasn’t managed to earn a starting spot since returning to Old Trafford in the summer. He proved during his loan at West Ham last year that he can be a good Premier League player and it has been widely reported that he will look for landing spots around the division in January, keen to get back on the pitch. It is even believed that United would accept a permanent sale, for £10 million.
Donny van de Beek
It’s no surprise that Donny van de Beek is close to the Old Trafford exit door, having hardly played since moving to the club in 2020. As Fabrizio Romano has explained, Van de Beek is still hopeful of making it with the Red Devils, but he is also realistic and prepared to move on this January if his situation doesn’t improve.
Donny van de Beek situation is so clear. He loves the club and he’s still super professional in training, doing his best for Man Utd - but if the situation remains the same, he will leave Manchester United in January. 🔴🇳🇱 #MUFC

Eric Bailly
He may have just signed a new contract in April, one that runs to 2024 with the option for a further year, but Eric Bailly could still depart in January. He is the fourth-choice centre-back for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and The Northern Echo have explained that Newcastle could make United an offer they can’t refuse for the Ivory Coast international.

Phil Jones
Even though it will be two years this January since Phil Jones last played a competitive senior football match, he still has suitors. In fact, according to The Sun there are 13 different teams who would be interested in the centre-back this winter, including Premier League sides Watford and Newcastle.
