Marcelo jokes about Cristiano Ronaldo’s scoring rate
Manchester United ground out a 1-0 victory away at Norwich City on Saturday, picking up a vital three points in the Premier League to move up to fifth place in the table. It was Cristiano Ronaldo who scored the only goal of the game, winning a penalty and then stepping up to emphatically convert the spot kick himself.
After the game, Ronaldo shared a new post on Instagram. “One more step in the right direction,” it started. “We know what we want and what we have to do in order to get it. It’s up to us! Well done, lads! Let’s go.”
His former Real Madrid teammate Marcelo was one of the many people to reply to that post, with the Brazilian jokingly writing “every time I come on here… you’ve scored a goal”, along with a laughing emoji.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s impressive Manchester United scoring rate
Since the Portuguese forward returned to Old Trafford in the summer, he hasn’t stopped scoring goals. He has netted 13 times from his 18 appearances so far, with seven of these coming in 13 Premier League appearances and six in five Champions League outings.
So far this season, Ronaldo is scoring one goal every 112 minutes, which isn’t far off the best rates of his career.

Marcelo’s struggles at Real Madrid
Marcelo, meanwhile, isn’t having as much of an impact, even though he is three years younger than the 36-year-old. The Brazilian left-back has played just five times for Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid this season and for a total of just 140 minutes.
Even though is the new club captain at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, following the departure of Sergio Ramos, Marcelo hasn’t had many opportunities to wear the captain’s armband as Ferland Mendy and even David Alaba have had more minutes at left-back this season than he has.
