Juventus have confirmed that Aaron Ramsey will leave the club during the January transfer window, with Newcastle and Everton among the clubs interested in the former Arsenal player.

Ramsey has endured a torrid period with the Turin club, failing to justify big wages and featuring only 112 minutes of football this season, including just a single start.

Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri has already confirmed that the Wales international will be on his way out of the club during the window.

“Aaron Ramsey is an outgoing player,” he confirmed. “Instead, Alvaro Morata will not leave, he is a performance footballer. The problem with him is that he is given a wrong label. He is very important: I talked to him and I told him not to move from here. Case closed.”

While the news on Morata will come as a blow to Barcelona, who have been linked with the forward, Ramsey’s departure will pique the interest of many Premier League clubs.

Where will Ramsey go?

Ramsey’s future appears to lie in the Premier League, though it seems that the biggest clubs are no longer interested in him.

The 31-year-old had been linked tentatively with a move back to Arsenal, but the prospects of this now appear to be slim, with the Gunners functioning smoothly in the middle part of the field.

Ramsey has been linked with a move to Burnley by Sky Sport Italia, though it is said that he elected to reject that move, which came rather out of the blue.

Meanwhile, Everton have also been associated with a possible swoop, having already added Vitaliy Mykolenko and Nathan Patterson to their ranks already this window, spending £31 million.

It is Newcastle, however, who are leading the way for the Wales star. The Toon’s need for quality in their ranks is evident and they are hopeful that Ramsey could help provide that as they battle relegation.

With money to burn, the St James’ Park club can afford both a transfer fee and the player’s hefty wages.

There is a long way to run in the Ramsey saga, but Newcastle looks the likeliest destination for the outgoing Juventus star.
